Attorney Bob Herberger of the Law Firm Roth, Blair, Roberts, Strasfeld, and Lodge will offer a FREE workshop about patents, trademarks, and litigation for small businesses. 

 

The Learning Lab workshop will provide an overview of the different types of Patents, components of a  patent, trademark searching,  when should you seek legal advice, and what to do during litigation.  The workshop will give attendees the opportunity to ask specific questions to the attorney and allow discussion of on-going issues related to small business, technology, and business development. 

 

Attorney Bob Herberger:

Robert J. Herberger concentrates in intellectual property matters and litigation, dealing with patents, copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets.

 

Attorney Herberger graduated with honors in 1982 from Youngstown State University with his bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. He received his juris doctor degree with honors in 1989 from the University of Akron Law School. Prior to attending law school, he worked as a chemical engineer at Texas Instruments, Inc., in Austin, Texas and E1ectrochemicals, Inc. in Youngstown, Ohio.

 

He has helped to organize the Youngstown/Warren Inventors Association, which was formed in 1994 to tap the area's growing reservoir of creative talent. It is a not-for-profit organization designed to assist inventors in the development and marketing of their inventions.

 

He has been involved in intellectual property litigation, as well as the procurement of numerous trademarks and patents relating to a wide variety of inventions and products.

Linda Richardson of All Clear Translations will offer a localization training workshop for software developers. The workshop will cover developing software for internationalization. Localization tips and guidelines to create a seamless translation.

 

Often, software development happens without localization (translation) in mind. The goal of this workshop is to give developers an awareness and guidelines to develop their software for ease of translation. Once the workshop is completed the attendee will have a better plan of action for writing new content with localization in mind. This workshop is designed to help the developer save localization costs and turnaround time. Even if you are not global yet, many foreign companies are asking for the UI and online guides in their native language. Once you complete this workshop you will have a better understanding of what it takes to localize and steps you can take now to create a seamless, less costly, more accurate product in all languages.
