How MBAC Helped This Trumbull Small Business Compete for Large Regional Contracts
Emerald City Construction is a low-impact green infrastructure company. The owner, Keland Logan, has been recognized by the Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership (TNP) as a preferred contractor in providing home restorative and renovation services. Emerald City was also certified as a MBE in July.
Keland credits the help of the MBAC program in assisting him in securing his MBE/EDGE certifications as a catalyst for the company’s recent turnaround. Through a MBAC and Regional Chamber (YWRC) supported diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) business matchmaker, Keland learned of Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) minority business programs and certifications. Keland feels the MBAC introduction to ODOT helped him very quickly secure an ODOT cross-MBE certification.
The benefit to being certified? “It gives me an opportunity to be at the table when they are looking for contractors,” said Keland.
