The Octave: Dinner & A Show!
Dinner & A Show!
The Octave Live Music Cafe and Event Center opened on December 8, 2023, and is the combination of three musical friends, including Micah Hall Sr., Gary Reynolds Jr., and Jamhal Simon, “The Trio,” whose members all own successful businesses, believed something was missing from the Downtown area and came together to bring a new experience to the city. The Octave was created to bring a Cleveland or Pittsburgh experience to the Youngstown area, eliminating the need for people to leave the city for excellent, live music.
What’s the Groove?
The Octave is your go-to destination for live music and entertainment in the heart of the downtown area. They bring the nightlife to life multiple nights a week with diverse events that cater to all tastes. Whether you’re belting out your favorite tunes on karaoke night, enjoying the energy of a live band on Friday nights, or grooving to the beats at our R&B bingo night with a live DJ, there’s always something exciting happening at The Octave. But the experience doesn’t stop at night.
On weekends, The Octave invites you to join them for a delightful brunch, where you can savor delicious food in a lively atmosphere. In addition to our entertainment offerings, The Octave features a versatile event space connected to their live music café. This space is perfect for hosting private parties, celebrations, or special events, providing a unique venue with the added flair of our vibrant setting.
Future Hits:
As a fairly new business, The Octave is eager to grow and enhance what it can offer to its customers. The Octave is already planning to introduce additional services in the near future to serve their community better and ensure that The Octave remains a staple of downtown entertainment and hospitality. The Octave is genuinely committed to ongoing growth and expansion. As they move into the next phase of their business, there’s a strong focus on attracting big-name entertainers, live bands, and talented artists to elevate the experience they offer. This effort is part of a broader strategy to enhance their reputation and keep the momentum going. They continue to forge valuable connections within the industry, ensuring they remain at the forefront of the entertainment scene. Their dedication to excellence has solidified their position as one of the top entertainment destinations in Youngstown, and they show no signs of slowing down.
Minority Business Assistance Center at YBI + The Octave Live Music Cafe & Event Center:
One of The Octave’s owners, Gary Reynolds, who is certified MBE and EDGE, has extensive experience working with MBAC, which played a crucial role in the success of their new business venture. Gary introduced the business idea to the MBAC team, who accepted and supported it enthusiastically. He began collaborating with Vern Richberg on certification in 2021 and completed the process with Regional Director Tanisha Wheeler. The access to capital provided through MBAC’s connection to Valley Partners was instrumental in their swift business launch. This funding enabled them to renovate their building and execute their launch plans effectively.
Additionally, in the early stages of their search for a suitable location, MBAC offered significant support, connecting us with key individuals in Youngstown who guided The Octave owners to their current building. Tanisha Wheeler’s assistance was invaluable, as she helped The Octave refine their business plan and facilitated their connection to Valley Partners, which ultimately awarded them $250,000 for start-up expenses.
The Octave Live Music and Event Center is a great place to eat, appreciate wonderful entertainment, and cherish time with friends and family.
