The one that started it all! In 2001, YBI transitioned from a general-purpose incubator to a tech-driven incubator that attracted, grew, and developed Software as a Service (SaaS) companies to compete on the world stage. While this SaaS focus defined much of our early success and national acclaim, we have since shifted to the forefront of Advanced Manufacturing (AM).
Mission
Engine Tech Incubator’s mission is to support technology startups with exactly what they need right now: expert guidance, commercialization strategy, investor-readiness preparation, meaningful introductions, and flexible assistance that scales alongside their business. We accelerate startup growth without barriers or bureaucracy.
Purpose
The Engine Technology Incubator has been at the forefront of reindustrialization and economic transformation long before it was cool! By helping startups grow in the heart of Youngstown, we are constantly working to transform the Midwest by positioning the region as a hub for advanced manufacturing and technology innovation. For more than a decade, Engine has helped shift the narrative from industrial decline to high-tech resurgence.

YBI’s primary cohort is the Center of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing (AM). As Ohio’s designated AM startup hub, Engine provides comprehensive support at every level, from strategic vision to operational execution, ensuring startups have what they need to succeed.
LOCAL SaaS/Healthtech Cohort
The Engine Local Cohort delivers personalized support for early-stage SaaS and healthtech companies from ideation to acquisition. With expert mentorship, strategic market connections, and tailored resources, we help founders move faster from concept to sustainable, scalable success.
I-YBI
At YBI, we take pride in creating a “welcoming home” environment for international (and domestic) tech startups. We offer a highly personalized support model tailored to the unique challenges foreign founders face, including entering a new market and navigating full or partial relocation. With no fees or equity taken, I-YBI is your trusted partner in building a strong U.S. presence right from the heart of the Mahoning Valley.
