America Makes, formerly known as the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, is the nation’s leading collaborative partner in the advanced manufacturing industry while also paving the way for 3D printing technology research, discovery, creation, and manufacturing innovation.
Structured as a public-private partnership with member organizations from the AM industry, academia, government, non-government agencies, and economic development resources, America Makes is working to accelerate the adoption of additive manufacturing technology and the nation’s global manufacturing competitiveness by expanding the AM ecosystem.
America Makes was founded in 2012 as the Department of Defense’s (DoD) National Manufacturing Innovation Institute for additive manufacturing. It’s the first of the Manufacturing USA network and is managed by the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM).
